The new Ribble Valley County Constituency Branch is part of the new Pendle and Ribble Valley Federation.

Ribble Valley County Constituency is one of the largest parliamentary constituencies, stretching across hills from Gisburn to Lostock Hall, into sparsely populated rural seclusion. There are 700 farms, ranging from large dairy units to small hill farms. The Parliamentary Constituency of the Ribble Valley County takes in the western area of Ribble Valley Borough Council with a proportions of South Ribble and Preston City with the following wards:

Ribble Valley-  Alston & Hothersall, Billington & Langho, Bowland, Brockhall & Dinckley,  Chipping, Clayton-le-Dale & Salesbury, Derby & Thornley, Dilworth, Gisburn & Rimington, Hurst Green & Whitewell, Mellor, Ribchester, Wilpshire and Ramsgreave, West Bradford and Grindleton, Whalley Nethertown and the Waddington,Bashall Eaves and Mitton Ward.

South Ribble- Walton-Le-Dale (W & E), Bamber Bridge (W & E), Samlesbury and Walton, Coupe Green & Gregson Lane and Lostock Hall

Preston- Preston Rural North, Preston Rural East, Sharoe Green and Greyfriars.

There are approximately 75,900 electors in the new constituency. The largest employer is British Aerospace (which has two plants in and just outside the constituency). The South Ribble Borough Council area of the constituency is more populated by density than the Ribble Valley and covers Bamber Bridge, Lostock Hall and Higher Walton and the semi rural and rural area’s of Samlesbury and Coupe Green and Gregson Lane to the west of the main body of the constituency. The Preston City part contains the Preston Rural North and Preston Rural East wards, which together make up 60% of the area of Preston City, along with the more urban Sharoe Green and Greyfriars wards.

The Branch is self-financing and all Conservative supporters are encouraged to join and engage in either political or social activities. Running a Constituency branch is a time consuming task. There are very few paid employees in any Constituency Association. We have to rely on the goodwill and enthusiasm of our members in every activity we undertake. The Association Office requires the help of volunteers with the running of the office and clerical work. There are times when additional clerical help is needed, such as when a large mailing is to go out, and at those times we call upon members to come in and help stuff envelopes.

The branches are responsible for a large amount of the work of the Association, in campaigning and fundraising. They undertake canvassing, deliver literature, and organise events, as well as holding frequent membership drives. Supporting our fundraising activities is as important a way of helping the Association as any other. We hold varoud fund raising events, such as political dinners, as well as holding appeals for money to go towards our fighting fund for each election campaign. It might seem that we are always asking for money, but most of the Party’s money comes from the subscriptions and the efforts of our members.
