'After years of hard work the Longridge Neighbourhood plan should now be sent to a government examiner for approval by a government appointed examiner,” Ken Hind Councillor Longridge Dilworth and Leader of RVBC urged the RVBC Planning and Development committee.
The Committee sent agreed and sent the plan for examination .
Kem Hind further states, ''Following scrutiny by a government examiner the plan will now move on to a referendum in which all Longridge voters will be able to take part. It will give the people of Longridge a bigger say in the in the development of the town.”
''Along with the Town Council I am concerned that the people of Longridge will get the right mix of housing in the new developments, recognising the needs of the people of Longridge: affordable homes for rent and bungalows for the retired. The plan covers a series of key local issues that the commiunity have identified through workshops: housing, infrastructure provision, local character, heritage. local shops, services, community facilities and local employment.”
''The examiner will decide if the plan is sound when it will move to the referendum in which I urge every resident to support the plan. Every planning application will have to satisfy 3 sets of rules: National, Ribble Valley Development Plan and Longridge Neighbourhood Plan. It will give a greater voice to the Town Council who have driven the writing of the neighbourhood plan.”
''Longridge is over subcribed with planning applications and we need to plan for future infrastructure and preserve the character of the town.”
